The required PPE<\/a> for each circumstance is based on an Environment, Health &\u00a0Safety (EHS<\/a>) risk assessment that takes into account the type and quantity\u00a0of hazardous materials<\/a> present, engineering control measures in place, and\u00a0administrative controls to reduce exposure.\r\n\r\nWhen determining appropriate PPE, animal handlers must:\r\n
    \r\n \t
  1. Reference information provided in\u00a0the Animal Handler PPE Chart<\/a>;<\/li>\r\n \t
  2. Adhere to the EHS safety findings outlined in the eRAM Protocol Workspace<\/a>;<\/li>\r\n \t
  3. Adhere to the room specific PPE requirements posted at the entrance; and<\/li>\r\n \t
  4. Adhere to PPE recommendations, as determined by EHS in consultation with\u00a0Occupational Health Services (OHS), based on personal medical history.<\/li>\r\n<\/ol>\r\nIt is the responsibility of all personnel entering an area to engage in the appropriate use\u00a0of PPE. EHS representatives are available to assist with training for personnel, but the\u00a0primary responsibility for ensuring personnel are trained on the\u00a0appropriate use of PPE lies\u00a0with the Principal Investigator<\/a> or, for ULAM personnel, the area supervisor.\r\n\r\nResearch conducted in the field presents unique situations and requires appropriate\u00a0planning. Strategies for ensuring proper protection in the field must follow EHS\u00a0recommendations.     2. Enforcing the implementation of the defined biosafety requirements; and<\/li>\r\n \t
